The results indicate that the number of high-five actions initiated toward others increased from the first to the fourth lesson. The children who rarely initiated high-fives with other children in the first lesson, in particular, showed a positive change over the course of the lessons.\n With regard to self-expression, the study focused on a program called “Call out Names in a Loud Voice.” To identify changes in one target child, observation records of the classes were compiled, and an interview was conducted with the grade head teacher. A comparison of the observation records for the first and fourth lessons showed that the number of occasions on which each child recognized others and imitated or cooperated with them increased.
