On pitch, melody and harmony, the two elements that compose music with another element, rhythm, have considerable influence. This study, considering the two points mentioned above, analyzes melodies from interval structure aspect, by counting the frequency of interval usage. As a subject, it takes up Arabesque op. 18 by R. Schumann. The study concludes that the interval, frequently used in each section, plays a potent role in forming melodies' character.
