However, English education for LD students in Japan lacks established methodology as well as materials. Most LD students who study in classes of ordinary schools fall behind in learning English without teaching how to learn. This paper is a report of a case of teaching English to a 12-year-old boy who was suspected LD or ADHD. The boy was extremely reluctant to write letters and showed no interests in learning. Therefore, phonetic awareness and having fun in learning were emphasized in teaching him. The program for him was planed to recognize the relationship between letters and sounds while enjoying games and activities. And also writing activities were combined with those games and activities. In the process of learning,he showed various difficulties: writing“J”,“N”“b”“d”; learning lower case alphabets; mixing up“b”and“d”; having difficulty in memorizing the alphabetical order or English words. Those problems were slightly solved during 23 times lessens by explaining the shapes and sounds of letters and giving some hints to help his memory, training to make it a practice to monitor his writing. He also showed some changes in his learning attitudes.
