In spring 1924, she graduated Okayama Prefectural Girls' High School and entered Nikaido Physical Training College in Tokyo. The purpose of this study is to clarify Hitomi's activities and thoughts in 1924 by investigating the diary which she kept in the year (Jan.1.～Nov.16). It has been left alone in her old home at Okayama for 75 years after her death. At Okayama she had been not only a champion tennis player of the school, but also an amateur of the Japanese literature, occasionally copmposing some tanka (Japanese poems). In Tokyo how did she spend her new college life? When did she make up her mind not to play tennis, but to be a track and field athlete. Did she compose any tanka? What was she impressed with the personality of the schoolmaster, Tokuyo Nikaido? We can summarize as follows: 1. Hitomi played tennis on June 16, thereafter did not. Participating in All Japan Championship Meet at Jingu Studium on Nov. 6th and 7th, she began to make her way to a world-rank athlete. 2. She composed 14 tanka in this year. 3. She had many intimate schoolmates, one of whom she loved dearly. 4.
